As a wedding photographer, every wedding is unique—but some stay with you long after the last dance. This destination wedding at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh was one of those unforgettable days. A celebration of two cultures, relaxed and joy-filled, set against the grandeur of one of Scotland’s most iconic venues.
I first connected with this amazing couple over a year before the wedding. We chatted, planned, and shared ideas across the months—and by the time the big day came, it felt more like photographing friends than clients. We met the day before the wedding to walk through Hopetoun House together, taking time to soak in the surroundings and finalise the flow of the day. It was the perfect start to a weekend I’ll never forget.
The wedding was a beautiful fusion of Scottish and Jewish traditions, full of energy, emotion, and deep meaning. From kilts and a chuppah to heartfelt blessings and a wild hora, it was a celebration that honoured heritage while being totally true to them as a couple.
Aline & Thomas kept things simple and meaningful—choosing to limit formal group shots so they could spend more time with their guests. It made space for the candid, storytelling moments I love to capture. And it allowed the day to unfold naturally, without a sense of rush.
Hopetoun House gave us the dreamiest backdrop: stately architecture, wide open grounds, and golden hour light that wrapped everything in magic. We made the most of it with relaxed moments, a golden hour walk at sunset, and even a few drone shots to capture the grandeur from above.
As the sun went down, the celebration turned up. The evening dance party was electric—joy, movement, tradition and laughter all rolled into one. It was one of those rare dance floors where every generation was fully involved. A true highlight to photograph.
For me, it’s not just about the setting (though Hopetoun House is a dream!), it’s about the connection. I stayed nearby in a cosy Airbnb just 10 minutes away, which meant I was rested, relaxed, and fully present to capture every moment from start to finish.
