Your wedding day will be full of unforgettable moments—and choosing the right wedding photographer ensures those moments are beautifully captured for a lifetime. With so many photographers out there, it can feel overwhelming knowing where to start. These seven questions will help you find the perfect fit and give you confidence in who’s behind the camera on your big day.

1. What’s your wedding photography style?

Start by thinking about the kind of photos you want. Do you love natural, candid images that tell a story? Or are you drawn to posed, editorial-style shots? I specialise in creative, documentary-style wedding photography that captures real emotions and genuine moments—without awkward poses or forced smiles.

2. Can we see full wedding galleries?

Social media highlights are just the tip of the iceberg. Always ask to see full wedding galleries to get a feel for consistency, storytelling, and how the photographer handles different lighting and locations throughout the day. I’m proud to share full galleries with prospective couples to give you complete confidence in my work.

3. How do you help couples feel relaxed in front of the camera?

Most people aren’t used to being photographed all day, and that’s completely normal. I focus on building a genuine connection with you so that on the day, it feels more like having a friend with a camera than a stranger giving instructions.

4. What’s included in your wedding photography packages?

From coverage hours to pre-shoots and the final delivery of images, make sure you understand exactly what’s included. Too many couples book quick only to come up against hidden fees later on. I like to sit down and run through everything together before we book, so there are no surprises—just stunning photos.

5. Have you photographed at our venue before?

Familiarity with your venue can be helpful, but what matters most is a photographer who can adapt to any setting and light. I take time to scout locations and plan ahead to get the best possible results, whether it’s a countryside barn or a city hotel.

6. What happens if you can’t make it?

The best version of this I’ve ever heard was what happens if you die Colin! Dramatic but it’s a good question and you deserve a good answer. A professional photographer will always have a backup plan. Many photographers had this experience in the Covid lockdown where we had to self isolate. Praise God, I’m connected with a great trusted group of photographer friends ready to stand in at a moments notice. I wont miss your wedding but part of serving you guys is making sure we’re one step ahead so that you’re never left without someone on the day.

7. Can we meet before booking?

Absolutely! In fact I insist! I offer consultations—either in person here in Kent or over Zoom—so we can get to know each other and make sure we’re the right fit. After all, your photographer will be with you throughout the day, so it’s important you feel comfortable. I don’t want to be a stranger on the day but a friend you can trust.
